2017 Duluth Ice & Mixed Fest Wrap-up

February 20, 2017 Leave your thoughts

Although a January thaw had shrunk the quarry’s supply of pure ice routes (RIP, the Ramp), the 2017 Duluth Ice & Mixed Fest was nonetheless a rip-roaring success, with an abundant supply of mixed and dry tooling routes that kept over 250 participants and Quarry Park visitors well entertained. Other highlights throughout a cool and misty Saturday included Adam Dailey and Eric Enquist completing an incredible 24-hour fundraising climb-a-thon for the ice park (approx $9000 raised!), fat bikes, disc golf, and bacon-on-a-stick around the Loll lounge campfire. Saturday night was a celebration of Canadian climbing mastery as Margot Talbot, Rebecca Lewis and Nathan Kutcher inspired us with presentations about the relationships between climbing and ourselves. Thanks to all who participated, our incredible sponsors, and our awesome volunteers. Let’s do it all again in 2018 (when farmed ice may be sprouting)! All photos here courtesy of David Murphy:
