Once again, Duluth’s premier summer climbing rendezvous was graced with bluebird weather, as over 150 people came out to Ely’s Peak for a day of outdoor exploration and fellowship. New this year was the DCC’s partnership with Youth Outdoors-Duluth, who organized bus service to the event from West Duluth. YOD also organized guided bike excursions on the DWP trail (instruction and bikes provided by the awesome folks from Daytripper of Duluth). This year we offered guided climbing, courtesy of Vertical Endeavors Duluth and the CSS Outdoor Pursuits program, on both sides of the Tunnel Bluff (the tunnel itself was lit with glo-sticks to make passage safer and add dramatic color inside the bowels of the mountain). We also fed the troops by offering free hotdogs in the parking area. Flock to the Rock just keeps getting bigger and better with every passing year! Thanks to all our sponsors, partners, and volunteers for helping us stage such a successful event! Hope to see you all out there again in 2018!
