Join the Duluth Climbers Coalition for our annual summer rendezvous: a free day of climbing at Ely’s Peak! Local climbing organizations will have ropes set, provide climbing equipment for people of all ages, and there will be qualified instructors on hand to belay and offer beta (that’s climber slang for advice). For more experienced climbers, there will be plenty of climbs for you to set your own ropes on and local guides to provide directions and advice. It’s a climbing and outdoor party that’s free and family-friendly: the tunnel will be outfitted with glow-sticks for easier passage, Jessica Rossing Fitness will be on hand to lead outdoor yoga and guide trail hiking/running, Duluth climbing legend Adam Dailey will put on a must-see-it-to-believe-it, overhanging mixed climbing demo, and we’ll have free hotdogs and Juice Pharm juices to fuel the fun!
No previous climbing experience or registration is required; just show up and enjoy the day with Duluth’s climbing community at our premier warm weather crag! Climbing from 10 AM to 4 PM (last call for climbing requires you to be at the crag by 3 PM).
Directions: From Duluth, drive south on I-35 to Midway/Beck’s Rd. and turn left (south). Drive 2.2 miles to parking area on the left (cars and signs). 1/4 mile easy hike to the crag. Note: parent or legal guardian must be present to sign participation waivers for kids.
